GrALBA Series – Scotland’s Premier Gravel Racing Series

The GrALBA Series is Scotland’s ultimate gravel riding challenge, bringing together five unique events across five breathtaking locations. Designed to showcase Scotland’s diverse terrain, each round presents a different race format, ensuring a varied and thrilling test for all riders. Whether you’re chasing series points or simply looking for an unforgettable gravel adventure, the GrALBA Series delivers a true test of endurance, skill, and spirit.

The 2025 GrALBA Series Rounds

Round 1: Muck n' Mac Fest – Tweed Valley

Date: 3rd May 

Price: £64

The series kicks off in the world-famous Tweed Valley at Muck n' Mac Fest. More than just a race, this weekend-long festival blends exhilarating gravel riding with live music, films, and outdoor experiences. Riders tackle multiple timed stages across two days, taking on rugged trails and forest tracks in the heart of Scotland’s adventure capital.

Round 2: Grand Old Dukes – Aberfoyle

Date:15th June

Price: £74

Known as the “Gravel Capital of Scotland,” Aberfoyle hosts the Grand Old Dukes, a classic gravel endurance challenge. This round takes riders deep into the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, featuring epic climbs, technical descents, and long gravel sectors that push riders to their limits.

Round 3: Carron Valley Crusher – Carron Valley

Date:5th July

Price: £44

A brand new event featuring in the GrALBA Series, Carron Valley Crusher is a circuit gravel race over a testing 16km circuit against the stunning backdrop of the Carron Valley. Riders will experience expansive moorlands, forested climbs, and fast-flowing gravel sections, making this an essential event for those seeking a true test of their off-road endurance.

Round 4: Turbine Traverse (Scottish National Gravel Champs) - TBA

Date: 16th August

Price: £54

A prestigious stop in the series, round 4 hosts the Scottish Gravel Championship. Offering a vast network of gravel tracks round 4 provides the perfect setting for high-speed racing. This is the round where Scotland’s fastest gravel riders will battle it out for national titles, adding extra prestige to the event. In the event of a series tie, riders results in the this round could be the decicider for the series...

Round 5: Thrive Gravel - Ballater

Date: 21st September

Price: £54

The series culminates in the stunning Cairngorms National Park, where Ballater hosts the final showdown. With a mix of fast forest roads, river crossings, and highland climbs, this stage is both a celebration and a test of the strongest riders. Expect dramatic scenery, a festival atmosphere, and a final chance to claim GrALBA Series glory!


Race Categories

The GrALBA Series is open to riders of all levels, divided into the following race categories:

Open/Elite – For top-tier competitive racers. (Cash prizes of £1000 - 1st, £600 - 2nd & £300 - 3rd for podium finishers in M&F)
Senior (Under 40) – For riders under 40 looking to challenge themselves. (Minimum age 17)
Veteran (40 - 50) – A category for experienced competitors in their 40s.
Super Veteran (50 - 60) – A division for riders aged 50 to 60.
Super 60 (60+) – A special category celebrating endurance and experience in gravel riding.


Series Points System

Points are awarded at each round of the GrALBA Series as follows:

Top 10 Finishers:

 1st – 200 points
 2nd – 180 points
 3rd – 170 points
 4th – 160 points
 5th – 150 points
 6th – 140 points
 7th – 135 points
 8th – 130 points
 9th – 125 points
10th – 120 points

 11th to 21st Place:

  • 11th place starts at 115 points, decreasing by 5 points per position down to 21st.

22nd to 31st Place:

  • 22nd place starts at 65 points, decreasing by 2 points per position down to 31st.

32nd to 95th Place:

  • 32nd place starts at 45 points, decreasing by 1 point per position down to 95th.

96th to 100th Place:

  • All finishers between 96th and 100th place receive 1 point.

Overall Series Standings
The best three rounds will determine the overall GrALBA Series Champion in each category. Consistency, endurance, and strategy will be key to claiming the GrALBA Series Title!

Riders must take part in at least 4 of the 5 rounds to count toward the series.
